The Attitude of Gratitude

Eph 5:20
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Lewis Smedes: Gratitude is the heart of contentment

1. Gratitude is Based on Who God is
God is on the throne - He is a good God!
Psalm 23 - He walks beside us. He never forsake us.
He carries our burden, we are not alone.
Centers on Christ.
Gratitude leads to praise. Rejoice always!

2. Gratitude Affects How You View Yourself
Our strength is in Christ.
Our identity and self-worth are based upon Him. No failure.
Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
Finds healing for hurts.
Count your many blessings, angels will attend.

3. Gratitude Affects How You Relate to Others
People are precious to God.
Lifts up others.
Put down our rights to help others.
People love grateful people. Does not close doors and isolate people.
A thankful heart affirms people.
Gratitude brings unity, kindness, Fruit of Spirit.

4. Gratitude Changes Your World
Joseph: right spirit
Moses: Servant attitude.
David
Syrophoenician woman
Paul
True gratitude does not give up.

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Year 2009, What to REMEMBER?

G getting the IES was a miracle. Being not working for so long and application into a totally different industry, not sure what to do there. Less talking about the remuneration asked of.

1. The success of the job application was a Miracle and the hand of God working in our family.

Thereafter:

G felt the stressed in her work at IES. Job distribution was not equal, some was so relax and other have so much time to chit chat, her job was the opposite. So much works to do, so much so that she wanted to resign but was fearful. (With IES for about 8 months) Reason being that I was jobless and that she was the only provider in the family. Thinking of the facts that with so little experiences, what other job she can apply for. Even if she applies for a new job, with so many other jobless candidates competing, what are her chances?

2. I applied a job at NTU on behalf for G.

In a week time she got a call for interview, I accompanied her to the campus. The next week she got the job. The school waited for her for 2 months as she needed to give notice to IES.

Its a Miracle, gift from God, 40 percent difference and the school waited for her. With God, all things are possible.

3. We had been staying with parent for the past many years. Not so good in relation, many unhappiness and many pasts events.

We knew there will be inconveniences and hindrances from them.

We decided to sell the house, done the valuation in Oct 2009. Appointed an agent that we do not know, asked for a plus 35K, which look very unlikely to get seller at this current market when the seller have many choices of selection.

At one occasion, remembering that parent does make the things difficult for the viewing. Had a heated argument with father at one occasion, he mentioned he will not move out.

As we are about to self off the ideas of selling, firstly the proceeds will be lower if the price ask for could not met. Secondly the agent commission was high, thirdly short of fund.

Lo and behold, God gave us the seller another Miracle to do it in less than 2 months.

  1. God gift to us again, fund from our insurance that we did not expected.

5. I joined a company in End October, strange arrangement with no pay, no contract, no leads, nothing practically, totally broke. Just with the peace of God and the confidence in Him that he will guide me in the sales.

God guided me through my cold calls, in less than a month, the queries came in.
